의미

오늘의 영어 표현 belated는 ‘늦은’ , ‘뒤늦은’이라는 뜻을 가지고 있습니다.

한국어로는 똑같이 ‘늦은’ 이라는 뜻으로 ‘Late’와 동일하게 시간과 관련된 용어이지만, 조금씩 다른 맥락에서 사용됩니다. ‘Belated는 주로 늦었을 때 좀 더 예의와 격식에 중점이 있어 주로 사과나 유감 표현이 동반하게 됩니다.

일반적으로 가장 자주 쓰이게 되는 표현으로는 뒤늦은 생일축하할때 쓰입니다 (Belated Happy Birthday).
